Shane Taranto

    Having established STAR in 1999, Shane has overseen the company’s growth into a national provider delivering services across multiple schemes and jurisdictions.


    As Chairman, Shane focuses on guiding STAR’s strategic direction and ensuring the organisation remains well positioned to deliver high-quality Workplace Rehabilitation services. His leadership supports STAR’s ongoing commitment to achieving sustainable Return to Work outcomes for Workers, Employers and Insurers.


    With extensive experience across a wide range of industries within Western Australia’s employment market, Shane brings a strong understanding of the environments and strategies that support successful workplace rehabilitation outcomes.


    Shane is a Registered Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).


    He is a member of the Australian Rehabilitation Providers Association (ARPA) WA and serves as a committee member of the Australian Rehabilitation Providers Association (WA).

David Harrison

    David is an experienced health professional and Executive Leader, having held senior management roles across the health and aged care sectors.


    His career includes executive positions with organisations such as the Lions Eye Institute, Bethanie Group and Hall & Prior Aged Care, where he has led complex services and supported the delivery of high-quality care.


    David also brings experience within the Workers’ Compensation sector, having previously worked with GIO as a Vocational Rehabilitation Administrator and Injury Management Advisor.


    Earlier in his career, David practised clinically as a Physiotherapist at Royal Perth Hospital, including in the role of Senior Hand Therapist.


    David holds a Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy) with Honours from Curtin University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Australia.

    In a dynamic and ever-changing industry, Kathryn specialises in driving performance, improving capability, and implementing continuous improvement programs that optimise processes, enhance business performance and achieve positive outcomes for the business and clients.


    Throughout her career, Kathryn has worked within the nominal insurer, treasury managed fund and specialised workers' compensation insurance sectors and develops relationships built on a foundation of trust, collaboration and service delivery.

    Kym is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with extensive experience in workplace rehabilitation, occupational health, and wellbeing programs. Since 2018, she has delivered tailored services focused on injury prevention and sustainable Return to Work outcomes across a diverse range of Commonwealth, State, and private sector organisations.


    As Western Australia Operations Manager, Kym leads a high-performing rehabilitation team, overseeing service quality, compliance, and performance outcomes. She drives excellence in injury management, Return to Work results, and operational growth through effective workload and resource management.


    Kym is passionate about mentoring and developing staff, fostering continuous improvement, and strengthening relationships through business development and referral network growth. Alongside her leadership role, she remains actively involved in case management, applying a practical, client-focused approach that supports positive outcomes for individuals and organisations.


    She holds a Bachelor of Science (Exercise Physiology) and is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist registered with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) and a member of the Australian Rehabilitation Providers Association.

Kim Clarkstone

    Kim is an Accredited Occupational Therapist with a Masters in Occupational Health and Safety. With over 15 years’ experience in the Workers Compensation field, she has managed claims for large national organisations and provided extensive case management as a Rehabilitation Consultant.


    Kim holds additional qualifications in Ergonomic Assessments, Functional Assessments, and Activities of Daily Living Assessments.


    She is passionate about delivering high-quality Workplace Rehabilitation services to achieve the best possible outcomes for all parties and has supported clients across Workcover, DVA, Comcare, and life insurance schemes.

Katherine Prince

    Katherine brings diverse experience across both in-house and external Workplace Rehabilitation settings.


    She has a strong interest in Injury Prevention, supported by five years’ experience in Occupational Health and Safety. Her expertise includes Risk Assessment, auditing Health and Safety management systems, manual handling training, and the development and review of safety procedures, as well as supporting positive safety culture outcomes.


    Katherine has also spent ten years providing community-based support to individuals with significant spinal cord injuries, along with experience supporting people with complex barriers to Return to Work. This breadth of experience provides her with a well-developed understanding of the physical and psychological impacts of injury.


    Katherine holds a Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) with Honours from Edith Cowan University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. She is a Registered Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Chris Mather

    Chris is an experienced Occupational Therapist with extensive expertise in Driver Assessment and Rehabilitation, working with a diverse range of clients.


    He has supported new drivers with disabilities, as well as individuals returning to driving, including those operating commercial vehicles following significant injury or medical conditions. 


    Chris has a particular interest in facilitating Return to Work Programs for Workers required to operate heavy machinery and commercial vehicles as part of their role.


    Chris holds a Bachelor of Science (Health) and a Master of Occupational Therapy, along with a Postgraduate Diploma in Driver Assessment and Rehabilitation. He is a Registered Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Andrea Lee

    Andrea is a registered physiotherapist with extensive experience in injury management, early intervention, ergonomics, and rehabilitation. She has worked across mining, manufacturing, agriculture, construction and industrial sites, as well as in aged care settings and with NDIS clients.


    Andrea is passionate about helping people return to work safely and confidently after injury. She applies a holistic approach, tailoring rehabilitation plans to meet individual needs and providing guidance throughout the return-to-work process. She is committed to ensuring that every client feels supported and guided at every step of their rehabilitation journey.


    Andrea combines her clinical expertise with a strong understanding of workplace demands to develop practical, sustainable solutions that support optimal return-to-work outcomes.

     

    Andrea holds a Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy) and is a Registered Physiotherapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She is also currently undertaking a Certificate lV in Work Health & Safety (BSB41419).

    Specialising in the trades, construction, and mining industries, Angus’s experience spans the Perth metropolitan area and regional hubs including the Wheatbelt, Geraldton, Port Hedland, and Broome. He is recognised for providing firm, decisive guidance in high-stakes situations, ensuring rehabilitation plans remain on a productive trajectory.


    Having a disciplined and methodical writing style, Angus produces reports that are notably clear, concise, and accessible to all stakeholders. Byrony Poulton

    She has delivered a broad range of Return to Work and case management services across diverse sectors, including industrial, agriculture, mining, defence, commercial, community, aged care and paediatrics. Her experience includes both large-scale workplace interventions and individualised, targeted Return to Work Programs.


    Byrony also brings experience in preventative strategies and proactive case management, supporting Early Intervention and sustainable Return to Work outcomes for Workers and organisations.

    Liana specialises in trauma-informed care, particularly for individuals navigating alcohol and substance abuse challenges. She is proficient in a diverse range of therapeutic modalities, including EMDR, CBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. This clinical versatility allows her to deliver tailored, outcome-focused interventions that builds resilience and restores client confidence.


    Practicing as both a treating psychologist and an Injury Management Consultant, Liana has a proven track record in managing Complex Psychological Injury Claims and providing critical support through crisis intervention and acute risk management. Her collaborative approach ensures a safe, timely, and sustainable return to both work and daily functioning.


    Liana holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) with Honours and is a Medicare-registered General Psychologist, committed to delivering high-quality psychological support across clinical and occupational settings.

Sandra Smith

    She has worked across private practice, government, and in-house roles, including as an Injury Management Coordinator and Occupational Health and Safety Advisor, where she implemented injury prevention and fitness for work strategies. Sandra also has five years of hospital and community-based Occupational Therapy experience.


    Sandra holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration, and is a Registered Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).       Nicole is an experienced Rehabilitation Provider.  Prior to joining STAR, she had eight years’ experience in the WorkCover, Dust Disease Care, and CTP schemes. She also has clinical experience in the UK and Australia across neuro-rehabilitation, general medical, palliative care, community care, and paediatrics.


      Drawing on this extensive clinical knowledge, Nicole takes a holistic approach to Workplace Rehabilitation and enjoys working collaboratively with all stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for her clients. She has a particular interest in Ergonomic Assessments, training, and Activities of Daily Living Assessments, with the goal of facilitating a return to health and work.
