As chairman, Shane now spends his time overseeing STAR’s strategic priorities, ensuring that the business remains well placed to effectively deliver on its objective of achieving the best return-to-work outcomes for all parties now and into the future.
With experience across countless industries in WA’s employment market, he is well-versed in knowing what is required in providing the right environment to successful workplace rehabilitation outcomes and the strategies needed to ensure on-going success.
Shane is a Registered Occupational Therapist (AHPRA).
David is an experienced health professional and executive manager, having held senior leadership roles in the health and aged care sectors.
David’s qualifications and experience make him an ideal candidate to lead STAR. He has held executive roles including at the Lions Eye Institute, The Bethanie Group and the Hall and Prior Aged Care Organisation.
David has experience in the workers' compensation insurance sector, having held the position of Vocational Rehabilitation Administrator and Injury Management Advisor with GIO.
Prior to his leadership and management roles, David worked clinically as a Physiotherapist in a variety of positions at Royal Perth Hospital, including as the Senior Hand Therapist.
Darren began in the civil construction, engineering, and mining industries, before he trained to become an Occupational Therapist. Since then, Darren has gained experience in the NSW and WA Workers Compensation frameworks, and spent seven years working as a Clinician with people suffering complex difficulties as a result of brain injury. This knowledge and work history gives him a solid understanding of the physical and cognitive demands of many roles, leading to fantastic outcomes for workers looking to re-enter the workforce after suffering a brain injury.
Michelle is a Rehabilitation Counsellor with extensive experience in vocational counselling and assessments, job seeking with a new employer focus, corporate training and development, and consulting in Government and private sectors. Michelle has supported clients in WorkCover, DVA, Comcare and Life Insurance. Michelle has a focus on developing rapport with clients to engender trust and is focused on whole-of-person rehabilitation and outcome-focused case management.
Sarah is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with successful return-to-work through outcome-based plans and proactive case management for claimants with their pre-injury/disability employer. Sarah has experience working within the NSW Worker’s Compensation framework, as well as life insurance, CTP, comcare, and non-compensable/early intervention sectors. She has an interest in Manual Handling and Ergonomic training with the aim to prevent workplace injuries.
Kym has worked as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist since 2018. Kym has a strong background in provision of Occupational medical services and workplace health and wellbeing programs, delivering high quality, tailored, wellbeing and injury prevention services to the workforce. She has experience working with a broad range of sectors including Commonwealth Departments, State and Territory Governments as well as large, small and medium sized private sector organisations.
Katherine has diverse experience with in-house and external rehabilitation. With an interest in Injury Prevention, she has five years’ experience in the Occupational Health and Safety arena with skills including Risk Assessment, Auditing of Health and Safety Management Plans, Manual Handling Training, Development and Review of Safety Procedures, and Safety Culture Development.
In addition, Katherine spent ten years providing community support for people with significant spinal cord injuries, plus two years working with people with complex return-to-work barriers. Today, her broad knowledge base gives her a unique insight into the physical and psychological impact of injuries.
Chris has extensive experience in driver assessment and rehabilitation, and is experienced with a wide range of clients. He regularly worked with new drivers with disabilities, as well as those wishing to return to driving commercial vehicles after sustaining a life-changing medical condition. Today, he has a special interest in facilitating return-to-work programs for workers who are required to operate heavy machinery and commercial vehicles as part of their employment.
Silvana is a Psychologist and experienced leader in Vocational Rehabilitation and Prevention Services, EAP, Corporate Psychological Services and Private Practice. Silvana has over 30 years of experience in Vocational Rehabilitation and Psychological Services with private industries and government. Silvana’s passion is in prevention services and solution creation within businesses, managing mental health concerns and well-being. Silvana has significant clinical and organizational experience to serve organisations in assisting with team effectiveness through assessment, training, mentoring, and coaching at all levels. Silvana is also skilled at individual counselling to assist in areas of Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, significant life events, relationship issues, stress, relaxation practice, injury adjustment and pain management. Silvana has the drive to mentor and coach people to be the best version of themselves.
Alicia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Honours) and a Bachelor of Communications double majoring in Journalism and Advertising. As an aspiring Clinical Psychologist, Alicia is passionate about applying her knowledge and natural empathy within her role as a Career Transition Specialist and strives to offer the highest level of support to STAR clients on their path to rehabilitation.
Alison has over 13 years’ experience as a nurse in public hospitals, private practice and community in both Australia and the UK. She has a vast skillset acquired through emergency management, rehabilitation, pain management and managing return to work programmes into the workplace, and mental health experience.
Alison is an accredited manual handling trainer and assessor and has a special interest in injury prevention and injury management. She has worked in education and management roles and has a highly organised approach to implementing plans and approaching challenges. She has a very strong background in problem-solving and people management strategies due to her senior experience in training and education within the health industry.
Comcare Accredited
Angus is from New Zealand and has experience in private practice Physiotherapy along with sports Physiotherapy in Rugby Union. Angus worked primarily in the New Zealand rehabilitation sector providing the stay at work training for independence and concussion rehabilitation services along with horticulture and corrections early intervention Physiotherapy.
In moving to Perth, Angus worked in early intervention and worker's compensation Physiotherapy before moving into the Injury Management sector. Angus has an interest in facilitating return-to-work plans for clients in the construction, agriculture and trade industries.
Ben joins STAR having completed a Chiropractic degree at Murdoch University including a 2-year placement in a clinical practice setting. Ben also brings a wealth of experience working within the NDIS system as a disability support worker.
Ben is passionate about providing a holistic and empathetic approach with all stakeholders while supporting each worker with their rehabilitation goals.
Byrony has worked in Injury Management across WA, NSW, VIC and SA, and has experience in a range of return-to-work case management services. Working across the industrial, farming, mining, defence, commercial, community, aged care, and paediatric sectors, Byrony has experience in large scale in-services and one-on-one targeted return-to-work programming. Byrony has worked in preventative return-to-work strategies and proactive case management.
Daniel brings a unique experience to the team having completed a university honors research project breaking down the skills and strategies used by ‘high performing’ workplace rehabilitation consultants. This project is what sparked Daniel’s passion for complex return to work cases. Daniel values a holistic approach within a return-to-work program incorporating an injured workers' meaningful roles and activities within their recovery journey.
Jack joins the STAR IMS team as a passionate Occupational Therapist with experience in the NDIS system.
Jack collaborated with his fellow Colleague, Daniel Carter, completing a university honours research project breaking down the skills and strategies used by ‘high performing’ workplace rehabilitation consultants. This research project helped foster a strong passion for workplace rehabilitation and he has a particular interest in complex return to cases.
Jack follows a holistic approach with all stakeholders while supporting the worker to achieve their return to work goals.
Kelwyn brings great experience in all aspects of return-to-work case management services. Specialising in ergonomics and worksite evaluations, he has worked in the area of injury management since 1997 and has vast experience in Australia and the UK.
Lachlan joins STAR IMS with previous experience in assisting consumers under the NDIS system to improve engagement with their meaningful life roles and achieve their objectives. Lachlan’s interest in the vocational rehabilitation sector began early on during his studies after noticing the impact of unemployment on quality of life for those around him. Lachlan is passionate about providing high-quality return-to-work services while encompassing client’s passions and interests to enable smooth transitions back to work.
Liana comes to STAR IMS from a background in providing mental health assessments, behaviour assessments and counselling services under NDIS. She has experience in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused therapy, as well as working with trauma clients around all aspects of alcohol and substance use. She is new to Injury Management, however, has 12 months of complex case management experience under the NDIS system as well as several years of experience supporting people with substance use issues. Liana is also adept at supporting those at risk of harm and in need of acute crisis support.
Linda is a Registered Psychologist and specialises in complex case management (both physical and psychological injuries) across a wide range of industries. Linda provides professional, outcome focused support to individuals who have sustained a workplace injury as well as supporting employers through some of the challenges of the workers compensation system. Linda has extensive experience in areas such as vocational assessments, identification of transferrable skills and job skills development.
Mia has extensive experience working as a Physiotherapist in various sectors including Sports Physiotherapy, Private Practice, Hospitals and Workers Compensation. Mia has developed her skillset through a wide range of Hospital-based physiotherapy services, such as Rehabilitation, ICU and Cardiorespiratory.
Mia has a special interest in Injury Prevention and has gained experience delivering Worksite Assessments, Pre-Employment Assessments, Manual Handling training and various other Occupational Health and Safety Services.
Michael is experienced in psychiatry and workplace health. Michael’s specialist area is injury prevention and case management of complex co-morbidity cases where workers have developed injury-related mental health issues (diagnosed or undiagnosed).
Sandra has a great deal of experience in return-to-work case management for workers’ compensation and preventative employer initiatives. She has worked in private practice, the government sector, and in-house as an Injury Management Coordinator and Occupational Health and Safety Advisor, where she implemented injury prevention and fitness for work strategies. Sandra has also had a five years’ hospital and community-based Occupational Therapy experience.
Aaron is goal-oriented and passionate, with 3 years of clinical and rehabilitation counselling experience, including 2 years in Australia and 1 year overseas. She also has experience working in both NSW Workers' Compensation and CTP schemes. Aaron excels in conducting vocational services and is multilingual, speaking English and Mandarin.
In her role as a Rehabilitation Consultant, Aaron is eager to leverage her clinical expertise to aid injured workers, ensuring a smooth and seamless experience throughout their workers' compensation journey.
Amelia is a Physiotherapist with several years of both clinical and occupational rehabilitation experience. She is passionate about working with current and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force to assist them with medical and psychosocial support. Amelia also has experience working in both the NSW and ACT worker's compensation schemes. Amelia continues to develop her clinical physiotherapy skills by working one day per week with the Australian Defence Force.
Azra is an enthusiastic and well-versed professional. She has extensive experience in mental health counselling, psychotherapy and psychological services, including 6 years experience working overseas and 3 years in Australia.
Her professional ethics and diligence distinguish her in the field of Psychology. She also has extensive experience with providing occupational rehabilitation and vocational counselling services and is multilingual, speaking English and Urdu.

Bianca is an Occupational Therapist with experience in aged care, and performing mobility, cognitive and equipment assessments. Bianca also has experience working within the NDIS to help clients and their families achieve their goals. She is passionate about using her clinical knowledge to work with clients to achieve a smooth return to work.
Emily is a registered Physiotherapist with experience across a variety of sectors including acute care, musculoskeletal physiotherapy as well as aged care. Since completing her Bachelor of Physiotherapy through Charles Sturt University in Orange NSW, Emily has lived and worked in various regional areas in NSW and has enjoyed working with these communities.
Now as a Rehabilitation Consultant, Emily is keen to use her clinical background to assist injured workers and make their workers compensation experience as seamless as possible.
Fei-Lee is an experienced Occupational Therapist and Rehabilitation Consultant who has been working in Injury Management since 2006. In addition to specialising in complex Rehabilitation Case Management, Fei-Lee also performs Activities of Daily Living Assessments and Ergonomic Assessments, and has experience working across a range of legislations including Workers’ Compensation, Comcare, Australian Defence Force, and DVA Rehabilitation Programs, Life Insurance and CTP Insurance.
With over 9 years of experience in Occupational Rehabilitation, Jarrad works collaboratively with clients to achieve goal-orientated positive outcomes using his extensive knowledge of client centered rehabilitation approaches.
Kim is an Accredited Occupational Therapist with a Masters in OH&S. With over 15 years of experience in the Workers Compensation field, Kim has managed claims for large National Organisations as well as extensive case management as a Rehabilitation Consultant.
Kim holds additional qualifications in the completion of Ergonomic Assessments, Functional Assessments and Activities of Daily Living Assessments.
Kim is passionate about providing a high quality service to achieve the best possible outcome for all parties, having supported clients in Workcover, DVA, Comcare and Life Insurance.
Marvin is a dynamic Rehabilitation Consultant with a passion for fostering positive connections. He has a diverse background spanning across psychology, HR, F&B, and sports coaching.
Marvin is an Exercise Physiologist by training, with a keen interest in interdisciplinary research encompassing public health, behavioural psychology, health economics, and cardiometabolic health. Marvin’s personable character and broad skill set make your recovery journey a pleasant one.
Working as a Rehabilitation Provider for the past eight years, Nicole has extensive experience in the WorkCover, Dust Disease Care, and CTP spaces. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience working previously as a clinician in the UK and Australia in a number of areas, including neuro-rehabilitation, general medical, palliative care, community care, and paediatrics.
With this extensive clinical experience and knowledge, Nicole uses a holistic approach to vocational rehabilitation, and enjoys working collaboratively with all stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for her clients. Nicole has an interest in Ergonomic Assessment and training as well as Assessments of Activities of Daily Living with the aim to facilitate a return to health and work.
Rachel is an Occupational Therapist who facilitates durable and successful return to work outcomes within the Same Employer team. She has experience working within both NSW Worker's Compensation and CTP Frameworks. She has an interest in Activities of Daily Living Assessments for physical and complex injuries, with experience in minor home modifications.
Raveena has a varied work background, including experience in occupational rehabilitation, schools, and in the not-for-profit sector. Her academic background in Psychology and Rehabilitation equip her to successfully manage complex cases, including those with both physical and psychological injuries. She has a passion for helping people reach their potential and walking with them through their recovery and return to work process. Raveena has experience working in the NSW Worker’s Compensation and CTP framework, as well as in writing medico-legal reports.
Tajnina is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with experience in both clinical and rehab case management settings. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at UNSW and has since worked with patients at various stages of rehab and chronic health conditions.
Tajnina is passionate about helping STAR clients navigate the complex workers compensation system, and she is keen to assist them to achieve the best return-to-work outcomes.
Veronica is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who has extensive experience in musculoskeletal injuries. She completed her Honours degree with a specific interest in knee injuries. She has experience in working with Workers Compensation, NDIS, and Aged Care and strives to help each person achieve their optimal function. Veronica is passionate about utilising her clinical knowledge to help clients with the smooth transition of recovering at work safely and with confidence.
Scott is an Exercise Physiologist with a passion for workplace rehabilitation and delivering pain education. With over three years of experience in the field, working in NSW and ACT, he has gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise in helping individuals return to work after injury. Scott holds a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation, completed at the University of Canberra.
Scott likes to approach rehabilitation holistically, taking into consideration not just physical factors but also psychological and social elements that may be impacting a person's recovery. He believes in empowering clients with the knowledge and tools they need to manage their pain and prevent future injuries.
